This car was sent to us from Texas as a total restoration project. The customer wants it better than it was new with every nut and bolt replaced. This is one awesome car, Grabber Blue Convertible with white interior. The combination of colors makes this car really pop!
Its hammer time on the 500. A boat load of time and resources has been used to locate and finally get into our grubby hands the specific parts and pieces to make this car nice. One thing about Shelby's there is no shortage of opinions as to how they are supposed to be. Throw into the mix the changes that occured during an early and late production is enough to make your head explode. One thing I learned during this journey that many items are almost if not impossible to find. I believe we have secured or restored all of said items and are happy to proceed to completion. Its been a long and trying journey but it will all be worth it when the last screw, bolt and wipe of a rag calls it finished. We did a temp assy on the pieces, and parts but now everything is being secured in a more permanent fashion. The taillight panel has been installed with the sealant and correct hardware, the doors are being assembled with new handles, locks, regulators, new rivnuts for the mirrors , NOS strikers, NOS weatherstripping, all of the stainless parts have been buffed to a chrome finish. All the parts are laid out for final assembly including all the rechromed goodies like front bumper, eyebrow moldings, , sunvisor brackets, convertible top surround trim. inside convertble top header. Also accomplished is the new convertible top with the original correct back glass. All new correct exhaust system, and how about those seats. A very nice find NOS upholstery that was sent to us in raw form for us to have sewn into seat covers, very nice touch.
There is something about putting the hood on that makes it a reality that your almost done.
Pix will be going up all this week so check back!!
