Building a 66 Mustang with 5.0 and Five Speed and Fuel Injection
This is one of those neat stories where the car has always been in the family. Bought new in 66 and driven by all the family members. Later the car was passed on to a Grandaughter who wanted to see the car put back to use. However she wanted something a little more comfortable, with good fuel economy and some pep. Somewhere in its colorful past it had been rocked by some type of front end collision. The sheetmetal was replaced but the underlying damage was most evident by buckled floor pans and less than straight frame rails, with a touch of inner engine compartment crinkles. The years of laying dormant had taken its toll on the family member and required a heavy dose of lovin. The car underwent a full ground up restoration with some time on the body puller and some panel replacement. The engine compartment and frame rails were prepped for a Mustang II kit from Rod and Custom Motorsports . Our engine room built an 89 5.0 with a Motorsport E cam. The heads were prepped with crane springs and roller rockers. To keep the passengers cool we installed a an aftermarket A/C system with independent vents in lieu of the dash hanger. Seats were done in real leather and the rest of the interior got the Pony package. The tunes were played through a vintage look stereo with ten cd changer in the trunk. Drivers comfort was enhanced with a Flamming River tilt wheel with Seabring wood grain steering wheel. The outside received the GT look with Sikkens Blue Metallic paint and Sikkens clear. To finish off the package the pony was shoed with a nice new set of 15" Magnum 500's.
