A FEW OF OUR RESTOMODS

1967 Shelby Clone

Picture
This car started its life as a 1967 C code 289 2v automatic. It had undergone a engine transplant and was upgraded to a 351W. The engine ran good but the body was in much need of work. Someone made a feeble attempt at some repairs but was obviously home sick that day in restoration class.
We replaced two qtrs, installed all the Shelby glass, built a 351 Roller motor, installed fuel injection, and Vortec Supercharger. We attached the engine to a Tremec TKO 500 five speed , with centerforce gold clutch. We built a 9" rear-end with Auburn soft locker and 3.50 gears. The front suspension is a Rod and Custom Motorsports Mustang II with power rack. Gauges are Autometer with Deluxe aluminized bezel. Steering column is a Flaming River tilt. Car was painted with Sikkens Porshe red with Sikkens Autobase plus clear. Wheels are 17" Shelby style. Rear discs are RRS
.

We were honored to be invited by Vortec to bring our black 67 Mustang with a 351W with Vortec supercharger to the Mustang Anniversary to display in their booth.

1967 Shelby Clone

This car started as a 1968 Mustang with a 200 six cylinder automatic. A customer from Texas asked us to build him a restomod with tire buring performance leaning to a more high tech theme. His other request was to make a Shelby Clone to satisfy his love for the Shelby Mustangs. Even though he had a real Shelby in his garage already he did not have any interest in taking it out and beating on it like he could with this one. Si his request resulted in one opf my favorite builds we have done at Mustang Central

1965 COUPE TO CONVERTIBLE CONVERSION WITH 302 FR500 CAMMER ENGINE.

Picture
This 65 Coupe was in our customers family since it was new. It was passed on to him. Although he apprecaited the fact that the car was a family jewel he was not crazy about the fact that it was a coupe. He wanted to keep the car and enjoy it but would rather have something different, and I mean different. He wanted the car to be a convertible, and have a modern driveline. So we cut off the roof and made the car a convertible first. Before removing the roof we decided not only to install the convertible structural pieces, but also to make the car have a full frame to help keep things straight since his engine of choice was the new Fr500 302 Cammer. So we installed convertible inner rockers, convertible rear structure, torque boxes, fllor pan, and join the front and rear frame rails.
After the convertible structures were installed, and upgrading the car to have a full frame, we installed Rod and Custom Motorsports Mustang II front suspension with coil overs. We also raised the transmission tunnel a little to help provide clearance for the T45 5 speed.
Now that all the understructure was completed along with the engine fit, and front suspension it was time to cut the roof and install all of the convertible interior structure along with new convertible qtr panels.
Now it was all about final assy and detailing. The brakes were upgraded to Baer Brakes, rear-end was a 9" 35o gears with Auburn Soft Locker, Cal Tracs traction bars, all leather interior, four corner radar detection, hands free telephone, BBS custom wheels, Cloth convertible top, Michellin Z rated tires, and tilt wheel. Paint was a Mercedes color. Paint used was Sikkens with Autobase Base plus clear.
